Day 1: Puno - Floating Islands of the Uros - Amantani Island

Morning:

  • Departure from the port of Puno to the Floating Islands of the Uros. These artificial islands, built with totora reeds, are home to communities that keep alive ancestral traditions. During the visit, you will learn about their way of life, buy local handicrafts and, optionally, take a ride on their traditional totora reed rafts.

Noon and Afternoon:

  • Continuation of the trip to Amantani Island, known for its agricultural landscapes and Quechua-speaking communities. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a local family who will host you in their home. After lunch, you will participate in a guided hike to the Pachatata and Pachamama temples, located on the island’s peaks, from where you will have panoramic views of the lake. In the evening, you will enjoy a traditional dinner and, if you wish, you can attend a folkloric celebration organized by the community.

Day 2: Amantani Island - Taquile Island - Puno

Morning:

  • After breakfast, farewell to the host family and departure to Taquile Island. This island is renowned for its high quality textiles, declared “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO. Upon arrival, you will hike to the center of the island, visiting places of interest and learning about community organization and local traditions.

Noon and Afternoon:

  • Lunch at a community restaurant overlooking the lake. Afterwards, free time to explore the island, visit the handicraft market or just relax. In the afternoon, return by boat to Puno, arriving approximately at sunset.

Day 3: Puno - Optional Sillustani or Free Day

Option 1: Excursion to Sillustani

  • In the morning, visit to the archaeological complex of Sillustani, famous for its chullpas, pre-Inca burial towers. This site offers a deep insight into the cultures that inhabited the region and is located in a stunning natural setting next to the Umayo lagoon. Return to Puno at noon.

Option 2: Free day in Puno

  • Day to rest, explore the city of Puno on your own, visit local museums, markets or simply enjoy the regional gastronomy.
