INTRODUCTION
The Colca Canyon is the canyon of the Colca River in the Arequipa region in southern Peru, located about 160 kilometers northwest of Arequipa. It is one of the deepest canyons in the world.
The Colca Valley is a colorful Andean valley with pre-Inca-rooted inhabitants, and towns founded in Spanish colonial times with large, rather impressive Catholic churches in each one. The canyon is still inhabited by people of the Collagua and the Cabana cultures.
The local people maintain their ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the pre-Inca stepped terraces, called Andenes.
The Colca canyon trek, according to your physical condition, requires you to have at least some mountain trek experience. This trek runs in the western part of the canyon. On this trek, you can find typical villages, a hot spring, and a beautiful Oasis at the bottom of the canyon.
